Professional wrestling career

Early career and training

In 2000, Wicks started his training at the Chaotic Training Center in North Andover, Massachusetts as "Lifesaver" Billy Kryptonite. He began his career in the Chaotic Wrestling promotion, but was called on by the Inoki Dojo after they had seen a shoot style match between Wicks and John Brooks. On January 16, 2004, John Walters defeated him in a "Loser Leaves Chaotic Wrestling" match.

In early 2004 Wicks began to train at the Inoki Dojo in California. He also competed for the New Japan Pro Wrestling Young Lions Cup and teamed with Jushin Liger.

World Wrestling Entertainment

In May 2004, Wicks began work as a World Wrestling Entertainment "Developmental Talent" and competed on Sunday Night Heat as Billy Kryptonite teaming with Aaron Aguilera in a tag match against La Résistance. After this tryout, Wicks signed a developmental deal and reported to Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) in June. On December 1, 2004 Wicks began work for OVW and was renamed Chad Toland (sub for Tank Toland) and defeated Chris Cage to capture the OVW Heavyweight Championship. The next year while still jobbing for WWE, Chad Toland began to team with Tank Toland as The Blond Bombers and on April 12, 2005 the team won the OVW Tag Team Title from the Thrillseekers.

Toland made his TV debut as Chad Dick along with his partner, Tank Toland who was now using the name James Dick on the October 14, 2005 of WWE Friday Night SmackDown as The Dicks.[1] After The Mexicools won their 8-man tag match with their partners Road Warrior Animal and Heidenreich by defeating Paul Burchill and William Regal and MNM, The Mexicools were ambushed by the Dicks, and in the process they threw the current WWE Cruiserweight Champion, Juventud out of the ring and laid out Super Crazy and Psicosis using two of their signature tag team finishers.

On the October 28 episode of SmackDown, The Dicks appeared once again, helping MNM capture the WWE Tag Title when they attacked Heidenreich before Paul Burchill was about to receive the Doomsday Device finisher. This began a brawl with all the teams as the Dicks began attacking Road Warrior Animal. This allowed MNM to hit the snapshot on Heidenreich and win the WWE Tag Title.

On the November 5 episode of Velocity, The Dicks made their in ring debut in WWE, defeating jobbers. The tag team name "The Dicks" is related to their new gimmick as Chippendale dancers. The team's name was also used by Smackdown's commentators as a double entendre, using many jokes that utilized the teams name. On the November 25 episode of SmackDown, The Dicks made their official SmackDown debuts, defeating Heidenreich and Road Warrior Animal after blinding Animal with lotion. The Dicks wrestled regularly on Velocity not making many appearances on SmackDown!, though they did appear on the February 24, 2006 edition of SmackDown! where they were defeated by The Boogeyman.[1] This would be their last match with the company as both Wicks and Toland were released from their WWE contracts shortly after the taping.[1]

Toland then returned to OVW and, on December 14, 2006, he teamed up with Johnny Punch in a tag team match, where he lost to Damian Adams and The Real McCoy.
