Fylde is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election.

Boundaries

Created for the 1983 General Election combining the constituencies of Fylde North and Fylde South. The current Fylde constituency includes the whole district council area of Fylde, plus parts of Wyre and Preston. The Wyre areas include village communities to the south and north of the M55 motorway, including St Michaels and Inskip. From Preston is included the communities of Lea, Cottam and Woodplumpton. Fylde itself has three main population centres, namely Kirkham, Lytham St Annes and Freckleton. Lytham and St Annes are comfortable seaside resorts, favoured by families and retired couples.

Fylde is regarded as a Conservative stronghold, and under new boundaries, following the recent review by the Boundary Commission for England, is still considered as such. The seat will be drastically reduced, losing most of its elements from Wyre and Preston to the new seat of Wyre and Preston North. The Fylde constituency to be fought in the next general election will include the entire Fylde district and the Lea electoral ward from the city of Preston. This continues the link of Fylde with the semi-rural Lea and Cottam areas of western Preston.
