As of the
census GR|2 of 2000, there were 2,302 people, 832 households, and 643 families residing in the village. Thepopulation density was 510.0 people per square mile (197.1/km²). There were 853 housing units at an average density of 189.0/sq mi (73.0/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 97.83% White, 0.52% African American, 0.35% Native American, 0.26% Asian, 0.22% from other races, and 0.83% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.74% of the population.There were 832 households out of which 38.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.7% were married couples living together, 12.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.6% were non-families. 19.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.77 and the average family size was 3.17.
In the village the population was spread out with 28.2% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 30.5% from 25 to 44, 23.2% from 45 to 64, and 10.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 93.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.4 males.
