United States Census Bureau , the city has a total area of 5.1square mile s (13.3km² ), all of it land. Highland Heights borders Richmond Heights on the west, Lyndhurst to the southwest, Mayfield Heights to the southeast, Mayfield Village on the east, and Willoughby Hills to the north.Demographics
As of the
census GR|2 of 2000, there were 8,082 people, 2,779 households, and 2,309 families residing in the city. Thepopulation density was 1,575.0 people per square mile (608.3/km²). There were 2,862 housing units at an average density of 557.8/sq mi (215.4/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 81.18% White, 1.39% African American, 0.01% Native American, 4.60% Asian, 11.56%Asian Indian , 0.06% from other races, and 0.75% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.45% of the population.There were 2,779 households out of which 36.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 74.5% were married couples living together, 6.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 16.9% were non-families. 15.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.89 and the average family size was 3.24.
In the city the population was spread out with 26.8% under the age of 18, 6.1% from 18 to 24, 22.3% from 25 to 44, 27.2% from 45 to 64, and 17.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 42 years. For every 100 females there were 95.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.0 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $169,750, and the median income for a family was $178,922. Males had a median income of $156,250 versus $133,277 for females. The

Highland Heights is a part of the Mayfield City School District, along with
Mayfield Heights , Mayfield Village, andGates Mills .Highland Heights is home to Mayfield's largest elementary school, Millridge/Millridge School for the Hearing Impaired, and CEVEC (Cuyahoga East Vocational Education Consortium). The local Catholic parish, St. Paschal-Baylon, also runs a preschool-8th grade school.
