There are two toll plazas on the turnpike, in Dover and Rochester. The turnpike is part of the
New Hampshire Turnpike System operated by theNew Hampshire Department of Transportation Bureau of Turnpikes. Like most turnpikes, it is a 4-lane divided highway from Portsmouth to Rochester. From exit 12 at NH Route 125 south of Rochester north to the highway's terminus in Milton it is atwo-lane freeway . Route 16 continues as an all-access highway north of Milton.Exit 1, on the border between Portsmouth and Newington, was previously an at-grade crossing with
traffic light s, most likely due to the proximity of the entrance toPease Air Force Base . After the base's closure it has been converted into adiamond interchange . [http://terraserver-usa.com/image.aspx?T=1&S=11&Z=19&X=883&Y=11931&W=2]Exit list
