Corporations, Municipalities and Taluks of Kerala

Kerala's 14 revenue districts are further divided into 5 Municipal Corporations, 53 Municipalities, 63 taluks, 1453 revenue villages and 1007 Gram panchayats. Each district has a head quarter where the administrative offices are functioning.

The Districts are grouped into three on the basis of geographical, historical and cultural similarities.

*North Kerala inlcudes Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad, Kozhikode, Malappuram, and Palakkad.
*Central Kerala includes Thrissur, Eranakulam and Idukki.
*South Kerala includes Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta and Kottayam.

Taluks

Municipal Corporations

Five Municipal Corporations in Kerala are:
*Thiruvananthapuram
*Kollam
*Kochi
*Thrissur
*Kozhikode

"Note:" There is a demand to upgrade Municipalities like Alappuzha, Kottayam, Palakkad, and Kannur as Municipal Corporations.
