Daniel Trefler is an economics professor at the University of Toronto specializing in international economics and best known for his empirical research on patterns of trade. His works helped to explain the shortcomings of the Heckscher-Ohlin model in terms of differences in technology used in different countries.He has also empirically examined the impact of the North American Free Trade Agreement on both the U.S and Canada.Trefler received his Bachelor degree in economics and mathematics from the University of Toronto, a master degree in economics from the Cambridge University and his Ph.D. in economics from the University of California at Los Angeles.
