Its seat is the town of Piaski, which lies approximately convert|14|km|mi|0 south-east of Świdnik and convert|23|km|mi|0|abbr=on south-east of the regional capital Lublin.

The gmina covers an area of convert|169.73|km2|sqmi|1, and as of 2006 its total population is 10,759 (out of which the population of Piaski amounts to 2,626, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 8,133).
