community college in the Canadian territory ofYukon . Its main campus is inWhitehorse, Yukon . The college was founded in 1983, replacing the Yukon Vocational and Technical Training Centre, which had been in operation since the 1960s. The chancellor is Sam Johnston.History
Yukon College was founded as the Yukon Vocational and Technical Training Centre (YVTTC) in the early 1960s. In 1977 it partnered with
University of British Columbia to offer university-level programs and courses. The YVTTC and the UBC programs were merged and Yukon College was established on March 23, 1983. Yukon College replaced YVTTC, and took over its buildings and facilities. In June 1988, Yukon College moved its Whitehorse campus to its new facility at Yukon Place in the Takhini subdivision.Campus

Whitehorse, Yukon .Yukon College campuses include: Faro Campus, Whitehorse Correctional Centre Campus, Yukon Native Language Centre, Teslin Campus, Watson Lake Campus, Mayo Campus, Ross River Campus, Pelly Crossing Campus, Carmacks Campus, Haines Junction Campus, Carcross Campus, Old Crow Campus, Ayamdigut Campus and Dawson City Community Campus.
Partnership
The college participates in the
University of the Arctic and cooperates with theUniversity of Regina in the Yukon Native Teacher Education Program and the Bachelor of Social Work Degree Program.Aboriginal
Yukon College developed governing board and senate policies as well as Aboriginal governed councils within the university structure. The Yukon College offers a First Nations Executive Development Program. Yukon College’s Environmental Officer Training Program was developed in partnership with specific Aboriginal communities to meet specific needs within Aboriginal communities.
