The game was released on September 15, 1999 for the Nintendo 64, November 30, 1999 for the PlayStation, February 29, 2000 for the PC, and August 30, 2000 for the Game Boy Color. The game is based on the 1999 NASCAR Winston Cup Series. The game, along with NASCAR 98, is regarded as one of the best of EA Sports NASCAR series of video games. It was the last game for PC, it would not appeared on NASCAR 2001 until NASCAR Thunder 2002. This game was the third of the series.
