It has a busy railway station on the main railway line between Karachi and Lahore. It is a junction station with a disused branch line to Naushahro Feroze. City is also connected through many link roads at Just 6 KM from N-5 National Highway
It is called commercial hub of district Naushehroferoze, the literacy rate of this city is among one of the highest literacy in Sindh Rural, three different communities are resident of Mehrabpur, Sindhi, Punjabi & Muhajir with equal population. This city is popular for great sympathy during any disaster in the area, all communities are very social. Mehrabpur is also popular for its tradition hospitality "Mehmannawazi" of guests.

History
Mir Mehrab Khan Jatoi came here from Khairpur and made his residence with his family after that mostly villager came here and made their residency and name the village as Mehrabpur. Mehrabpur was also in the way of Indus River in previous history. Mehrabpur station was inaugurated in 1914.

On 19 December 2007, at 2:30 am an overcrowded express train traveling from Karachi to Lahore derailed 2 km (1.2 mi) south of Mehrabpur killing over 40 people and injuring hundreds more. The derailment seems to have been caused by defective rails.[2]
