It is located in the east side of the park, and debuted with the park in August 1992. The track color is green with cream colored pylons and orange fiberglass trains.
Some of its features include two (2) lift hills, a tunnel through the log chute, and three (3) large helices, twisting its way through the park. The Pepsi Orange Streak's station shares space with the Rugrats Reptarmobiles in a blue building with designs similar to the front of many Pepsi bottles and cans. The ride is sponsored by Pepsi-Cola (Mall of America's official soft drink) and Nickelodeon.
Trivia
- This is one of only three roller coasters in the world marketed with Pepsi as a sponsor, with the other ones being Pepsi Python (Roller Coaster) at Coney Island, and Pepsi Max Big One in Pleasure Beach Blackpool, a theme park in the United Kingdom.
- The transfer track that leads to the coaster's maintenance bay is located inside the log flume, before the second lift.
- On August 29, 1992, only days after opening to the public, police were called to investigate an attempted kidnapping. Wesley Swanson, a nine year old boy from suburban Chicago, was waiting in line for the attraction when he was lured away under false pretenses by 32 year old repeat sex offender, Rodney David Hawley. As the pair were exiting the mall, Hawley's neighbor happened to be entering and immediately confronted, then detained Hawley as he tried to escape. As a result of this incident, mall security personnel was permanently increased, and the Minnesota State Legislature passed a law, nicknamed "Wesley's Law," that increased mandatory sentencing guidelines for repeat sex offenders.
