Worldwide Day of Play is a yearly event for kids and parents to go out and go play. The yearly event offically began on all Nickelodeon channels: Nickelodeon (TV Channel), Noggin, The N, and Nicktoons Network on October 2, 2004.

Main

The event influences kids to be active by getting their schools and educational organizations to host an event to get out and be active. They would have to get instructions and permission from Nickelodeon. When the six month period of Let's Just Play series ends in September, Nickelodeon airs the finale during the last Saturday of September, and title those days as, "Worldwide Day of Play". Nickelodeon goes off the air for 3 hours from 12 to 3PM (this includes Nicktoons Network), and resumes airing after that. The 2005 version was aired on October 1, 2005. The 2006 version was on September 30, 2006. The 2007 version on September 29, 2007. The 2008 version was aired on September 27, 2008, despite there is no Let's Just Play in 2008.

On Saturday, September 29, 2007, the following message was shown:"Yes, your tv is working. Yes, this is Nickelodeon. And yes, this is Nickelodeon's World Wide Day of Play! This is Nickelodeon's celebration of all things active-an entire day devoted to play! That means YOU should get off the couch, get up from the floor, and definetly quit slouching in your bed. You should be celebrating! Ride a bike, do a dance, kick a ball, skate a board, jump a rope, swing a swing, climb a wall, run a race, do ANYTHING that gets you up and playing! Once you've played, there will be more Nick at 3pm, but until then, get up, get active, and GO PLAY!(this message will repeat until 3pm, so unless you want to be bored, GO PLAY!)"

On September 27, 2008, the following message was shown on Nick:"Today is Nickelodeon's Worldwide Day of Play- an entire day devoted to play! And to celebrate, Nickelodeon has gone off the air from 12pm to 3pm to encourage you to get outside and play. There will be more Nick at 3pm, but until then, this message will keep repeating. So don't just sit there. Go play!"

There has been a debate whether WWDOP 2009 should be shown on Saturday, September 26th, 2009 or Saturday, October 3rd, 2009.

On Nickelodeon

Kids can get information about the show and/or sign up to participate at nick.com. After Nickelodeon resumes airing at 4/3c, they usually air marathons and premieres of TEENick series, or SpongeBob Squarepants.
