It begins signed as U.S. Route 101 at the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and basically runs through the coast redwood areas of California's north coast to the City of Eureka. From there, it follows the Pacific coast to Crescent City. The Redwood Highway then becomes part of U.S. Route 199, where it travels inland northeast to meet Interstate 5 in Grants Pass.
