He was Whig MP Nottinghamshire 1722-1732. He was expelled from the House of Commons 4th May 1732 for a false statement that the

He was great-nephew of the 1st Baron Lexinton. He married Judith Tichborne, daughter of Benjamin Tichborne. Their children included
Sir Richard Sutton, 1st Baronet.
