Yishun Junior College (YJC) is one of the 17 junior colleges in Singapore, and offers two-year pre-university programmes for students who graduate from secondary schools after the General Certificate of Education 'Ordinary' Level Examination. The two-year programme prepares students for education in local or foreign universities. Yishun Junior College is a value-added college as it has received the value-added silver award for 2005. It is also one of the top-ten "value-added" junior colleges in 2005 and 2006.

Unlike other junior colleges in Singapore which offer fixed subject combinations, YJC offers students as much flexibility as it can in subject combinations to students in their choice of GCE Advanced’Level subjects. This practice stems from the belief that students should take ownership of their own education.

Aligned with the principles of holistic education, all YJC students are encouraged to be active participants in co-curricular activities, community involvement programmes (CIP) as well as leadership development programmes that emphasise values inculcation. As far as possible, all students, within their two-year stint with the college, will experience, besides their 'A' level studies, an adventure camp, an overseas immersion programme or service-learning CIP, and a work attachment stint with a local or foreign company. YJC has also worked collaboratively with the University of Canberra to award scholarships for YJCians who have excelled both academically and in their CCAs.

Getting there

Yishun Junior College is in North region of Singapore. Even though it is served by a various number of bus services, they are quite a distance away. The school is also close to Yishun MRT Station by a 10-minute walk.
