- RNA uridylyltransferase
In
enzymology , a RNA uridylyltransferase (EC number|2.7.7.52) is anenzyme that catalyzes thechemical reaction :UTP + RNAn diphosphate + RNAn+1
Thus, the two substrates of this enzyme are UTP and
RNAn , whereas its two products arediphosphate andRNAn+1 .This enzyme belongs to the family of
transferase s, specifically those transferring phosphorus-containingnucleotide groups (nucleotidyltransferase s). The systematic name of this enzyme class is UTP:RNA uridylyltransferase. Other names in common use include terminal uridylyltransferase, and TUT.tructural studies
As of late 2007, 8 structures have been solved for this class of enzymes, with PDB accession codes PDB link|2E5G, PDB link|2IKF, PDB link|2NOM, PDB link|2Q0C, PDB link|2Q0D, PDB link|2Q0E, PDB link|2Q0F, and PDB link|2Q0G.
