Preston is a village in Richardson County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 50 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Preston is located at coor dms|40|2|3|N|95|31|3|W|city (40.034138, -95.517547)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.1 square miles (0.2 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 50 people, 15 households, and 13 families residing in the village. The population density was 798.5 people per square mile (321.8/km²). There were 16 housing units at an average density of 255.5/sq mi (103.0/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 78.00% White, 16.00% Native American, 6.00% from other races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 10.00% of the population.

There were 15 households out of which 40.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 73.3% were married couples living together, 6.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 13.3% were non-families. 13.3% of all households were made up of individuals and none had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.33 and the average family size was 3.54.

In the village the population was spread out with 38.0% under the age of 18, 32.0% from 25 to 44, 14.0% from 45 to 64, and 16.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 92.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 121.4 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $40,625, and the median income for a family was $33,750. Males had a median income of $11,563 versus $15,000 for females. The per capita income for the village was $10,009. There were 8.3% of families and 15.6% of the population living below the poverty line, including 16.7% of under eighteens and none of those over 64.
