Greater Birmingham

Greater Birmingham

Greater Birmingham can be one of two areas:

*In the United Kingdom it is an informal term referring to Birmingham and the area surrounding it, including most of the West Midlands metropolitan county, minus Coventry. See West Midlands conurbation.

* In the United States it can refer to the Birmingham-Hoover-Cullman Combined Statistical Area, the largest census-designated area to which Birmingham, Alabama is central. It also refers to the merger of several independent municipalities into Birmingham by the Alabama legislature in 1910.
