Oakdale is a village in Antelope County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 345 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Oakdale is located at 42°4′12″N 97°58′4″W / 42.07°N 97.96778°W / 42.07; -97.96778 (42.069966, -97.967681)[3].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.5 square miles (1.3 km2), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 345 people, 140 households, and 97 families residing in the village. The population density was 664.4 people per square mile (256.2/km²). There were 163 housing units at an average density of 313.9 per square mile (121.0/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 98.84% White, 0.87% Native American, 0.29% from other races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.58% of the population.

There were 140 households out of which 31.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.0% were married couples living together, 6.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.7% were non-families. 29.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.46 and the average family size was 2.97.

In the village the population was spread out with 26.4% under the age of 18, 5.5% from 18 to 24, 24.1% from 25 to 44, 25.8% from 45 to 64, and 18.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 102.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 104.8 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $27,500, and the median income for a family was $30,139. Males had a median income of $22,917 versus $20,469 for females. The per capita income for the village was $11,979. About 9.3% of families and 13.9% of the population were below the poverty line, including 28.6% of those under age 18 and 6.3% of those age 65 or over.
