The Grand River Bridge (built 1927) is a road bridge located in Caledonia, Ontario, Canada on Argyle Street. [www.historicbridges.org [http://www.historicbridges.org/ontario/caledonia/index.htm] ]

The bridge is the only nine span bridge of its kind in Canada and is considered the first reinforced concrete bridge ever built. [Haldimand County [http://tourism.haldimandcounty.on.ca/filming/] ]

The bridge, originally named the Caledonia Bridge, is on the Ontario Heritage Bridge List.

History

The original six span wooden bridge collapsed due to ice. A second bridge was built in 1875, but collapsed when a heavy truck was crossing in 1925. The present bridge was built in 1927. To accommodate the workers who were constructing the bridge, the Oasis restaurant was built.
