Ahmed Hijazi (d.
November 5 2002 ) also known as Kamal Derwish, was aUnited States citizen killed by the U.S.CIA during a covert mission inYemen in November 2002. The CIA used anRQ-1 Predator remote-controlled drone to shoot theHellfire missile that killed Ahmed Hijazi and five other suspectedal-Qaida operatives as they rode in a vehicle 100 miles east of the Yemeni capital,Sanaa . OnFebruary 23 ,2006 , Elbaneh was added to theFBI Most Wanted Terrorists list along with a fellow Yemeni escapee,Jamal al-Bedawi , who had been under a death sentence in Yemen as well as under indictment in the United States, for his own role in the "Cole" bombing. On May 20, 2007,Jaber A. Elbaneh turned himself in to Yemen authorities on the condition that his prison sentence would not be extended.ee also
