Richey is a town in Dawson County, Montana, United States. The population was 189 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Richey is located at coor dms|47|38|42|N|105|4|10|W|city (47.644958, -105.069380)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.3 square miles (0.7 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 189 people, 92 households, and 59 families residing in the town. The population density was 697.5 people per square mile (270.3/km²). There were 147 housing units at an average density of 542.5/sq mi (210.2/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 98.94% White, and 1.06% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.06% of the population.

There were 92 households out of which 25.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.5% were married couples living together, 4.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.8% were non-families. 34.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.05 and the average family size was 2.60.

In the town the population was spread out with 18.5% under the age of 18, 4.8% from 18 to 24, 23.3% from 25 to 44, 31.7% from 45 to 64, and 21.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 47 years. For every 100 females there were 92.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.4 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $23,750, and the median income for a family was $33,000. Males had a median income of $21,500 versus $13,438 for females. The per capita income for the town was $14,684. About 10.0% of families and 10.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including none of those under the age of eighteen and 8.1% of those sixty five or over.
