Main features

Things allows tasks to be subdivided into several sections, which correspond to parts of the Getting Things Done methodology:

Collect

  • Inbox is used to collect tasks which have not been filed in a specific place yet.

Focus

  • Today highlights tasks which are due on the current day or are intended to be completed that day.
  • Next is an overview of upcoming tasks in all of the program's areas and projects.
  • Someday is used to catalogue tasks which need to be done, but are not time critical.
  • Scheduled contains recurring and delayed tasks and projects.

Organize

  • Projects are collections of tasks related to a specific larger task.
  • Areas can be used to collate tasks which correspond to a similar theme.

Additional features

  • Quick entry allows users to add tasks via a small window which can be activated within any program using a global keyboard shortcut.
  • Tags let users further describe tasks using the popular tagging organisation paradigm.
  • Team collaboration allows users to assign tasks to other team members.
  • iCal synchronisation
  • Logbook lets users view all completed tasks in one view.
  • Dock badging allows users to see how many items are due on the current day by looking at the application's dock icon.

iOS version

Cultured Code has released a mobile version of Things, which is available for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. The desktop version can synchronize tasks with the mobile versions of Things over a Wi-Fi network. [4]
