Snow Lake Shores is a town in Benton County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 300 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Snow Lake Shores is located at coor dms|34|49|26|N|89|14|30|W|city (34.823963, -89.241555)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.9 square miles (2.2 km²), of which, 0.7 square miles (1.8 km²) of it is land and 0.2 square miles (0.4 km²) of it (20.00%) is water.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 300 people, 147 households, and 105 families residing in the town. The population density was 438.7 people per square mile (170.3/km²). There were 297 housing units at an average density of 434.3/sq mi (168.6/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 97.00% White, 2.00% African American, 0.67% from other races, and 0.33% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.33% of the population.

There were 147 households out of which 12.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.3% were married couples living together, 6.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.9% were non-families. 24.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.04 and the average family size was 2.39.

In the town the population was spread out with 10.0% under the age of 18, 2.3% from 18 to 24, 19.7% from 25 to 44, 40.3% from 45 to 64, and 27.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 55 years. For every 100 females there were 96.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.1 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $30,625, and the median income for a family was $33,750. Males had a median income of $28,250 versus $20,556 for females. The per capita income for the town was $19,603. About 6.8% of families and 6.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 19.2% of those under the age of eighteen and none of those sixty five or over.
