- Serine-tRNA ligase
In
enzymology , a serine-tRNA ligase (EC number|6.1.1.11) is anenzyme that catalyzes thechemical reaction :ATP + L-serine + tRNASer AMP + diphosphate + L-seryl-tRNASer
The 3 substrates of this enzyme are ATP,
L-serine , andtRNA(Ser) , whereas its 3 products are AMP,diphosphate , andL-seryl-tRNA(Ser) .This enzyme belongs to the family of
ligase s, specifically those forming carbon-oxygen bonds in aminoacyl-tRNA and related compounds. The systematic name of this enzyme class is L-serine:tRNASer ligase (AMP-forming). Other names in common use include seryl-tRNA synthetase, SerRS, seryl-transfer ribonucleate synthetase, seryl-transfer RNA synthetase, seryl-transfer ribonucleic acid synthetase, and serine translase. This enzyme participates inglycine, serine and threonine metabolism andaminoacyl-trna biosynthesis .tructural studies
As of late 2007, 13 structures have been solved for this class of enzymes, with PDB accession codes PDB link|1SER, PDB link|1SES, PDB link|1SET, PDB link|1SRY, PDB link|1WLE, PDB link|2CIM, PDB link|2CJ9, PDB link|2CJA, PDB link|2CJB, PDB link|2DQ0, PDB link|2DQ1, PDB link|2DQ2, and PDB link|2DQ3.
