New York City ,New York . After quitting high school to join the Army, Evers was so inspired by stars likeJohn Wayne (whom he would later appear with in "The Green Berets") that he decided to try acting. A stint on Broadway led toHollywood , where his first big break was the 1960 television series "Wrangler". In 1963 another series, "Channing", followed. His most enduring role derived from the 1962 B-movie classic "The Brain That Wouldn't Die ".Evers continued to garner parts in films and television, guest starring with
Bruce Lee in the "Green Hornet" episode "Eat, Drink and be Dead" (1966) and getting a recurring part in the Western series "The Guns of Will Sonnett ", but they were of an increasingly minor nature. His final film appearance was 1990's "Basket Case 2 ". He returned to New York in his later years, many of which he spent married to actressShirley Ballard .He died of heart failure on
March 13 ,2005 , inLos Angeles, California . He was survived by a sister and a cousin.External links
