chiton s in the familyChitonidae , endemic toAustralia andNew Zealand includingNorfolk Island ,Lord Howe Island , theKermadec Islands , and theChatham Islands .Species in this genus are moderately large, robust, strongly sculptured, with the girdle loosely packed with large striated calcareous scales. The head valve has 10 to 13 slits, the median valves one on each side, and the tail valve 12 to 14 slits.
