- Phenylacetyl-CoA dehydrogenase
In
enzymology , a phenylacetyl-CoA dehydrogenase (EC number|1.17.5.1) is anenzyme that catalyzes thechemical reaction :phenylacetyl-CoA + H2O + 2 quinone ightleftharpoons phenylglyoxylyl-CoA + 2 quinol
The 3 substrates of this enzyme are
phenylacetyl-CoA , H2O, andquinone , whereas its two products arephenylglyoxylyl-CoA andquinol .This enzyme belongs to the family of
oxidoreductase s, specifically those acting on CH or CH2 group with a quinone or similar compound as acceptor. The systematic name of this enzyme class is phenylacetyl-CoA:quinone oxidoreductase. This enzyme is also called phenylacetyl-CoA:acceptor oxidoreductase.References
