Demographics
As of the
census GR|2 of 2000, there were 707 people, 323 households, and 198 families residing in the city. Thepopulation density was 336.0 people per square mile (130.0/km²). There were 414 housing units at an average density of 196.8/sq mi (76.1/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 87.13% White, 11.74% Native American, 0.14% Asian, and 0.99% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.42% of the population.There were 323 households out of which 23.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.4% were married couples living together, 10.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 38.4% were non-families. 35.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 21.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.19 and the average family size was 2.81.
In the city the population was spread out with 22.2% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 21.4% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 24.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 44 years. For every 100 females there were 91.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.1 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $32,375, and the median income for a family was $37,250. Males had a median income of $27,083 versus $21,731 for females. The
per capita income for the city was $19,609. About 3.2% of families and 5.6% of the population were below thepoverty line , including 2.8% of those under age 18 and 9.4% of those age 65 or over.References
