Bellerose, better known as Bellerose Manor, is a neighborhood on the eastern edge of the
New York City borough ofQueens , near the border with Nassau County. It is sometimes referred to as Bellerose Manor, to distinguish it from the adjacent Bellerose Village and Bellerose Terrace in Nassau [ [http://www.bellerosebusiness.org/history.html A Short History of Bellerose] , accessedAugust 7 ,2006 ] . AccessedSeptember 3 ,2007 .] The northern edge of Bellerose is separated from the Nassau border by the neighborhood ofFloral Park, Queens to the east.In addition, residents can catch express buses directly to the city, or city buses to the subway, on Hillside Avenue,
Jamaica Avenue , orUnion Turnpike the three major arteries that run through the town's limits.Today, the neighborhood is comprised predominantly of detached houses with a mostly
Irish American ,German American , and working and middle class population.It should be noted that, while the northeastern section of Queens Village is commonly referred to as part of Bellerose, it is only adjacent to Bellerose and is not a part of it. This area actually falls within Hollis Hills (11427), itself part of the larger Queens Village area.
