C. M. Gupta (born, Sept 1, 1944) is a scientist from India.
Education and Research
Gupta, graduated in medicinal chemistry from the Central Drug Research Institute (Lucknow, India with the degrees MSc and PhD. After serving as the director of Institute of Microbial Technology, Chandigarh, India for five years and director, Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow for over ten years, he is currently working as distinguished biotechnologist at the Central Drug Research Institute. His areas of specialization are membrane biochemistry/biophysics and medicinal chemistry[citation needed].
He has extensively contributed in the areas of drug targeting in parasitic diseases and membrane phospholipids transbilayer dynamics, and is currently working on elucidation of actin cytoskeletal network in Leishmania. These studies have resulted in publication of about 131 original research papers, 10 review articles, 5 book chapters and 6 patents. He has received several honors and awards and has served as a member of a number of important national and international committees. He is presently the DBT distinguished fellow at CDRI.
