Lake Park is a city in Becker County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 782 at the 2000 census.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.0 square miles (2.5 km²), all of it land.

Lake Park is located on U.S. Route 10, five miles east of the county line and is southwest of Labelle Lake. The only school in Lake Park is the Lake Park/Audubon high school.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 782 people, 308 households, and 198 families residing in the city. The population density was 799.4 people per square mile (308.1/km²). There were 326 housing units at an average density of 333.2/sq mi (128.4/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 95.91% White, 0.26% African American, 1.28% Native American, 0.38% Asian, and 2.17% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.38% of the population.

There were 308 households out of which 38.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.7% were married couples living together, 10.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.7% were non-families. 31.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 17.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.54 and the average family size was 3.22.

In the city the population was spread out with 32.0% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 30.8% from 25 to 44, 15.2% from 45 to 64, and 14.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 98.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.8 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $32,857, and the median income for a family was $41,250. Males had a median income of $31,048 versus $16,932 for females. The per capita income for the city was $14,307. About 6.8% of families and 10.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 7.8% of those under age 18 and 19.8% of those age 65 or over.

Education

Lake Park's school system is combined with that of Audubon. The high school (7-12) is in Lake Park and the elementary school (1-6) is Audubon. The school's mascot is the Raider. The school's song is the Notre Dame Victory March.
