Mythology

Andover was the site of a large train wreck which common local myth incorrectly cites as the source of the name of the city. The popular yarn is that a typographical error in a local newspaper stated that the train rolled over Andover, thus the name.Fact|date=February 2007

Actually, the name "Andover" pre-dates the train wreck and is evidenced by train schedules listing "Andover Station" prior to the wreck.Fact|date=February 2007
