Education

Born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas, Tim graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas with a bachelors of science degree in meteorology. He was an avid surfer in college, taking several trips to Baja California to take on the waves there.

Employment

First job

Deegans first weatherman job was with station KBTX-TV when he was still in college. The show was "Good Morning, Bryan & College Station" where he gave the weather forecast beginning at 5:30am--a show mainly for farmers. At the end of the show each day, Tim went off to class.

Jacksonville

When Tim Deegan started at WTLV in 1982, he was 22 years old with blonde hair and he loved to surf. He has been doing the weather (and surf) forecast in Jacksonville for over 25 years. Deegan originally started at WTLV as the main weather anchor for the station's morning show, "Good Morning Jacksonville." Later he became the station's Chief Meteorologist. Tim tries to visit one school per week to teach kids about weather. He will also recount his trip with the Hurricane Hunters into Hurricane Gilbert in September, 1988.

He occasionally mentions them in his daily weather segment.

Tim wed First Coast News (FCN) anchor Donna Hicken in 2002. She was previously married to FCN Sports Director Dan Hicken, and the three of them are on the same news show weekdays at 11pm. Donna, on October 29th, 2007, finally changed her stage name to "Deegan" on the evening news. This also coincided with a complete graphics package change for FCN.
