Maime E. Locke is a Democratic member of the Virginia Senate, representing the 2nd District since 2004. Her district includes the cities of Hampton, Newport News, Portsmouth and Suffolk.

Locke currently serves on the following committees: Agriculture, Conservation and Natural Resources; General Laws and Technology; Rehabilitation and Social Services

She received her education from Tougaloo College (B.A.) and Atlanta University (M.A., Ph.D.). She is currently a professor and Dean of the School of Liberal Arts and Education at Hampton University.
