As of the
census GR|2 of 2000, there were 509 people, 212 households, and 136 families residing in the village. Thepopulation density was 459.6 per square mile (177.1/km²). There were 251 housing units at an average density of 226.7/sq mi (87.3/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 94.30% White, 0.39% African American, 2.36% Native American, 1.38% from other races, and 1.57% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.93% of the population.There were 212 households out of which 33.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.9% were married couples living together, 15.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.8% were non-families. 30.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.40 and the average family size was 2.93.
In the village the population was spread out with 27.3% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 26.5% from 25 to 44, 23.4% from 45 to 64, and 14.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 92.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.7 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $30,714, and the median income for a family was $30,909. Males had a median income of $26,161 versus $18,750 for females. The
per capita income for the village was $13,400. About 15.0% of families and 17.4% of the population were below thepoverty line , including 18.5% of those under age 18 and 10.7% of those age 65 or over.Auto Racing
