United States Census Bureau , the township has a total area of 101.8 square miles (263.6 km²), of which, 101.0 square miles (261.6 km²) of it is land and 0.8 square miles (2.0 km²) of it (0.75%) is water.Demographics
As of the
census GR|2 of 2000, there were 578 people, 283 households, and 179 families residing in the township. Thepopulation density was 5.7 per square mile (2.2/km²). There were 932 housing units at an average density of 9.2/sq mi (3.6/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 99.31% White, 0.52% Native American, and 0.17% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.35% of the population.There were 283 households out of which 17.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.8% were married couples living together, 6.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 36.4% were non-families. 31.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.04 and the average family size was 2.48.
In the township the population was spread out with 15.4% under the age of 18, 2.9% from 18 to 24, 20.2% from 25 to 44, 31.7% from 45 to 64, and 29.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 52 years. For every 100 females there were 102.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 107.2 males.
The median income for a household in the township was $31,023, and the median income for a family was $37,000. Males had a median income of $37,813 versus $20,417 for females. The
