Demographics
As of the
census GR|2 of 2000, there were 1,191 people, 522 households, and 326 families residing in the village. Thepopulation density was 1,153.9 per square mile (446.5/km²). There were 575 housing units at an average density of 557.1/sq mi (215.5/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 96.22% White, 1.26% African American, 0.25% Native American, 0.76% Asian, 0.34% from other races, and 1.18% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.76% of the population.There were 522 households out of which 27.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.1% were married couples living together, 8.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.4% were non-families. 31.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.27 and the average family size was 2.87.
In the village the population was spread out with 22.6% under the age of 18, 5.8% from 18 to 24, 29.8% from 25 to 44, 23.2% from 45 to 64, and 18.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 88.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.6 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $42,569, and the median income for a family was $54,000. Males had a median income of $37,125 versus $29,125 for females. The
per capita income for the village was $23,228. About 0.6% of families and 1.5% of the population were below thepoverty line , including 2.8% of those under age 18 and 1.0% of those age 65 or over.References
