footnotes =Adipur is a city in
Kutch district in the state ofGujarat ,India . The town is situated nearly 8 miles from theGulf of Kutch .History
Adipur was originally founded as a refugee camp after the partition of India and
Pakistan in1947 by the government of India and later turned over to a self-governing body called theSindhu Resettlement Corporation (SRC). The person credited with the formation of this settlement was Bhai Pratap Dialdas, who requested this land for the mostly Sindhi immigrants of what was at the time West Pakistan from Mahatma Gandhi. The location was obtained from the Maharao of Kutch, since it was felt that the climate and culture of Kutch resembled that of Sindh.
Amongst the famous residents of Adipur, perhaps the most popular one is
L.K. Advani , the founder of BJP.Education
For being such a small town, Adipur boasts of many institutions of higher education. They are:
# Tolani Commerce College
# Tolani College of Arts and Science
# Tolani Institute of Management Studies
# Tolani Foundation Gandhidham Polytechnic Institute
# Tolani College of Pharmacy
# Dada Dukhayal College of EducationAdmissions were traditionally competitive with the rest of the district, but overall, due to the limited infrastructure surrounding the campuses, the populace is mostly local students from Anjar, Gandhidham, Adipur, and other surrounding towns.
