"Calliostoma pellucidum pellucidum" is a subspecies of medium-sized sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusc. Some authors have placed this genus in the family Calliostomatidae, other malacologists have left it in the family Trochidae.

Distribution

This subspecies is endemic to the North Island of New Zealand.

hell description

The shell is large and tall-spired, with concave upper spire outlines, but inflated later whorls, the last rounded to slightly angled at the periphery. Sculpture is of numerous sharply raised, closely beaded spiral cords, eight to ten on the penultimate whorl.

The external shell coloration is pinky-buff, broadly axially streaked in reddish-brown, except on the base - all cords are dotted with brown and white. The aperture is faintly iridescent.

The shell height is up to 37 mm, and the width is up to 37 mm.
