Caribbean Star Airlines Limited was incorporated in Antigua in January 2000 and started operations in June 2000. It is backed by Texan businessman
Allen Stanford . Its sister airline,Caribbean Sun Airlines Inc., launched its maiden flight three years later. They are affiliated but separate companies.Fact|date=May 2007 It is wholly owned by Caribbean Star Holdings.In January 2007 the airline announced an intended merger with LIAT, and they entered into a commercial alliance, involving the flying of a combined schedule. All flights are now marketed as LIAT, although the airlines will continue to operate separately using their own air operators certificates, until after completion of the merger. The merged airline will use the LIAT brand and the marketing slogan "The Star of the Caribbean", with a merged fleet expected to standardise on the Bombardier Dash 8 Q300.
The airline operated its last flight on November 15th 2007 and now ceases to exist.
