Omar Sachedina is a Canadian television journalist, currently a news anchor and reporter for the CTV Television Network.

Sachedina was born and raised in Vancouver in an Ismaili Muslim household. His family immigrated from Uganda, tracing their roots to India. He speaks Kutchi, Gujarati and French. Omar would later visit Uganda on a PBS Frontline/World fellowship to produce a web documentary on the return of Indians after the expulsion of Asians in 1972. He attended McGill University and the Columbia School of Journalism.[1]

His work has appeared in the Vancouver Sun, The Province and CBC Radio. While a student, Sachedina was an intern at Global Television in Vancouver and Montreal, as well as CNN International in London, England. He later worked as a reporter for CTV Northern Ontario. He joined Citytv in July 2006, working on newscasts for both CityNews and CP24, where he remained until 2008. He joined CTV in January 2008 to be a co-host of the new Canada AM Western Edition. When the western edition of Canada AM was canceled, Sachedina was transferred back to the now CTV-owned CP24. As of September 2009, Sachedina is a reporter for CTV National News.
