- Taste of the Danforth
Taste of the Danforth is a yearly festival held in
Toronto, Ontario ,Canada , in the Greektown area alongDanforth Avenue for a period of three days in August, spawned from theTaste of Chicago inChicago, Illinois ,USA . Started in 1994, it celebrates Greek food and culture. Past attendance numbers have reached as high as a million people over the three day event.This year's 15th annual Taste of the Danforth took place on August 8th - 10th, 2008.
This year, Greece's Master of Wine, Konstantinos Lazarakis will attend and lead seminars and tastings in the Wine Garden.Also, Greek pop/rock group, Zik Zak will also attend this year's Taste on the Main Stage. Greek Dance groups once again will wow attendees.
Food and attractions
Greek food is definitely the attraction with such favourites as pork, chicken, and beef souvlaki, and roast
quail , dominate. Attendees can also enjoy seated dining within the many restaurants throughout the Danforth and enjoy such Greek favourites as saganaki (the flaming cheese), and delicious fresh Greek salads. Existing stores and restaurants are also open during the festival.In addition to the Wine Garden, the 2008 Taste of The Danforth will allow attendees to enjoy 4 different beer gardens.
Many fun and interactive activities will be available at The Taste, including face-painting, video games, and much more.
