Quaid-e-Azam Medical College

Quaid-e-Azam Medical College (QAMC) is a medical college in Bahawalpur, Pakistan. It was formerly known as Bahawalpur Medical College, and was designed by Pakistani architect A. R. Hye.

The College was founded in the 1970s, and is affiliated to Bahawalpur Victoria Hospital for clinical training of medical students. It provides health care facilities to a population of around 12 million, and had produced 3,282 medical graduates up to the year 1997. [http://qmc.edu.pk/] It is a center of tertiary care and postgraduate courses, including DOMS, DCP, DCH, M.S. Orthopedics and FCPS in Medicine, Surgery, Gynaecology, Neurosurgery and other specialties, and for MCPS in Dermatology. It was the first indigenously designed Medical Campus by a Pakistani Architect and has the characteristics typical in A. R. Hye's style of architecture.

The design of the building incorporates natural climate control features, such as cross-ventilation, strategic placement of windows, and overhangs and courtyards to create shade. Additionally, the roof vaults, besides providing insulation, also allow the flow of air through the vault roof, bringing down ceiling temperatures. Hollow walls also provide insulation.
