The Doon School ,Dehradun and went toHaileybury (UK) for his A-levels. He graduated in Economics from theUniversity of London 's Queen Mary College in 1973. Then he got his Ph.D from theDelhi School of Economics where he also taught for a year. He worked as aChartered Accountant for some time and later joinedPrice Waterhouse , India before moving over to television.Career
He rose to fame with the program "The World This Week" and the election coverage with
Vinod Dua onDoordarshan . He has also worked for theSTAR TV . He specializes in covering elections. He is also a well-known economist and has served as an economic adviser to the Ministry of Finance.He is married to
Radhika Roy (sister ofBrinda Karat ), who was a speech therapist and is the Director of NDTV. He is the uncle of the prize winning Indian writerArundhati Roy .He is also a member of International Advisory Board a neo conservative globalist think tank
