Santău (Hungarian: Tasnádszántó, Hungarian pronunciation: [ˈtɒʃnaːdsaːnt}oː]) is a commune in Satu Mare County, north-western Romania. It is composed of three villages: Chereuşa, Santău and Sudurău.

Demographics

Ethnic groups (2002 census)[1]:

  • Hungarians: 54.77%
  • Romanians: 37.41%
  • Romanies (Gypsies): 6.17%

According to mother tongue, 56.93% speak Romanian as their first language, while 43.06% of the population speak Hungarian.
