The 2006 Alabama Crimson Tide football season began with the team trying to improve on their previous season's 10–2 record. The team represented the University of Alabama in the Southeastern Conference Western Division. They were led by fourth year head coach Mike Shula.

] win over Texas Tech in the Cotton Bowl, the Tide hoped to prove themselves yet again in the SEC. The team ultimately finished the season with a 6-7 (2-6 in SEC) record, including losses to rivals Auburn and Tennessee.
