According to the school website,College Board Scholastic Assessment Test and Connecticut Academic Performance Tests results for GHS students are consistently above state, regional and national averages. Guilford High School students have won many regional and national awards in the academic and creative arts fields.There is a full range of co-curricular activities offered to the students at Guilford High School, including National Honor Society, Student Senate, yearbook committee, service organizations and language and literary clubs. The sports teams, who receive wide community support, include soccer, football, baseball, basketball, lacrosse, ice hockey, field hockey, alpine skiing, fencing, wrestling, softball, tennis, volleyball, cross country, winter and spring track, crew and golf. Acclaimed music, art and drama programs round out the varied experiences available to Guilford High School students.

Guilford High School competes in the Southern Connecticut Conference (SCC) of the CIAC in Connecticut.
The football team won the (SCC) Title in '99 with a 7-6 defeat over Daniel Hand High school.
Notable Alumni
Kevin Maher '78 was a standout player for Guilford High School and Yale University before embarking on a professional indoor soccer career. He won three consecutive state championship with Guilford from 1976 to 1978 and was named All-American in 1978. Maher was a two-time All-America at Yale University and is their second leading goal scorer and points leader all-time (33 goals, 44 assists). In addition, he played for the United Stated Under-23 National Team in 1983 and 1984, including the 1983 Pan American Games in Caracus, Venezuela.
Adam Greenberg '99 was a four-year letterman on Guilford's baseball, basketball, and soccer teams. He was baseball team captain as a junior and senior, four-time All-conference and all-area, and was the first player in Connecticut history to be named to four all-state teams. Greenberg was a three-time all-conference, all-area, and all-state selection in soccor. He was named all-New England and All-America in 1998, during which season he set the school season record with 17 assists. He was also the team and area MVP in 1998. He holds the school record for career assists, with 33. [2] He was named Connecticut's male athlete of the year for 1998-99.

**Western CivilizationThe Guilford High School administration has implemented a new schedulethat is in effect this year. The administration believes that the new schedule, which is closer to block scheduling,will foster learning and increase standardized testing scores.
