The daughter of film director Piers Haggard and his wife Anna Slovsky, she was raised and educated in Dulwich, South London at the James Allen's Girls' School.[1]
Career
Haggard's television acting debut occurred in a 1996 episode of ITV's Ruth Rendell Mysteries directed by her father. Piers Haggard had asked his daughter to help him during the audition process by reading opposite the candidates. She later reported that because she is dyslexic "he had to work on it with me so that I didn't ruin it for the other person reading."[2] During the auditions, the producer stated that he wanted to audition Haggard herself, and despite opposition from her father who did not want his daughter to take up the difficult life of an actor.[2]
Haggard later graduated from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.
Haggard was seen in the BBC Three sketch show Man Stroke Woman and in the Channel 4 sitcom Green Wing[2][3] as Emmy. She has a brief appearance in an episode of Peep Show playing a nurse.
She also appeared in the BBC 2 comedy Psychoville by The League of Gentlemen[2] writers Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith, in which she plays the role of a pantomime actress, Debbie, and as Emma in the BBC2 sitcom The Persuasionists. In the 2008 adaptation of Sense and Sensibility, she plays the role of Miss Steele, the sister of Lucy Steele.[4]
Also in 2008, she played Donna Mitchell in Ashes to Ashes Series 2 Episode 6.
She was the voice of the Ministry Lift in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1.
In 2010, Haggard appeared in the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) film for television, Abroad, playing a young woman called Poppy Young.[citation needed]
She also appeared in "The Lodger" in Series 5 of Doctor Who[5], and "Closing Time" in the sixth series.
She stars in the 2010 British independent film, Honeymooner.
In 2011, she appeared in the BBC/Showtime comedy Episodes. She also starred in Echoes of the Dead, an episode of Midsomer Murders.
